Frank, Just got back from your dad's funeral and couldn't help but think when I saw you today how much you look like your dad. I've known Chummy since I was a little girl. It always made my day when we'd run into him somewhere - he'd act like he was there just to see me! That's when I called him Mr Lignelli. When I moved back to Donora after 35 years in the city, you'd think I hadn't been gone for even a day...he still made me feel as though he was just here to see me and he welcomed Pete with open arms. Daddy (Bill Schempp) and he spent so many years together in the fire company. John was the last of the old gang. Now they are all together again. What stories they must be telling. Donora surely has a Guardian Angel now.

What a loss for Donora. I met Chummy in 2005 when I returned to Donora after retiring from teaching. Over these 12 years he helped me with many things which will come as no surprise to anyone. Once I asked him why he never went to viewings ? He told n me that he instead went to every funeral mass..so in keeping with that tradition,I too will not attend Chummy's viewing but I surely will be at that funeral mass. May God bless our friend John Lignelli and his family.

My Mom, Mary Skains Colosimo send our sympathy and condolences to the Lignelli Family in the loss of Chummy! He was a true patriot and ambassador for the community of Donora....always upbeat and working for the good of his community during the darkest times. He went and paid his respects whenever a Donoran passed away....I remember him coming to Rabes when my Mom's twin brother died suddenly at age 51 and how deeply much it meant to her. Our family will always remember Chummy with a special fondness. RIP Mr. Donora!

This is a man who wanted the best for everyone he knew. He strived to make his community safe and prosperous. This is a man who paid respects to all the lost residents of Donora.
